Criterion Edition of “Ride the Pink Horse” to be released in March 2015 on Blu-ray and DVD!
The Criterion Collection has announced their films that will be released on Blu-ray and DVD for early 2015, and Universal’s “Ride the Pink Horse” (1947) is among them! This all-but-lost film noir gem was never (legitimately) released on VHS, let alone DVD, and features one of Andrea King’s best performances as the villainous Marjorie Lundeen.
“Ride the Pink Horse” will be released on March 17, 2015, with the following special features (according to Criterion’s website):
- New 2K digital restoration, with uncompressed monaural soundtrack on the Blu-ray
- Audio commentary featuring film noir historians Alain Silver and James Ursini
- New interview with Imogen Sara Smith, author of In Lonely Places: Film Noir Beyond the City
- Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of the film from 1947, featuring Robert Montgomery, Wanda Hendrix, and Thomas Gomez
- PLUS: An essay by filmmaker and writer Michael Almereyda
